Srinagar Women’s College, Srinagar was established in 2008. It is housed in Library Block of Amar Singh College Srinagar. Adjacent to Library Block, the Government of J&K has provided the college with one more newly constructed two-storied building. The college, being designated as Srinagar Women’s College – Srinagar by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, occupies a central position among women institutions of higher learning located in district Srinagar. The college started its academic journey with 71 students enrolled in BG – I in Arts stream with subject combination of General English, History, Political Science and Urdu. Since inception, over a brief period of five years, the graph of students enrollment has been experiencing an increase with the figures of 220,345,516,839,796 & 777 during the academic session 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13 ,2013-14 and 2014-15 respectively.
The college is affiliated with the University of Kashmir, Srinagar under F(prmt-Affi-GDC)CDC, dt; 17-01-2011 and also recognized by UGC under Section 2(f) and 12(b) of UGC Act.
Apart from academic pursuits, the college makes optimum utilization of talent hunt exercises through co-curricular and extra-curricular activities in the form of student’s participation in debates, seminars, symposiums, workshops and other sports related activities.
The college administration assisted by teaching and non-teaching faculty plays effective role in inculcating social and moral values among the students. The persistent efforts are being made by the college in imparting quality education to the students to make them to face the challenges of life with firm belief and confidence in prevailing competitive academic environment.
