Srinagar Women’s College (A.S.C. Campus) organised its annual Environment Week from 8th to 14th June, 2017. The purpose was to bring environmental issues to light and raise environmental awareness. This year’s theme ”Connecting People To Nature” has encouraged people to admire nature and challenges us to find fun and exciting ways to experience and cherish their vital relationship. The celebrations provide the opportunity to teach and sensitize the children about various aspects and problems of environment. In this connection the college undertook a spate of activities spanning the week. The celebrations kicked off with Campus Cleanliness Drive on 8th June, 2017. While leading the drive, Principal Prof.Rifat Parveen Gillani highlighted the importance of nature and role of students in its protection. All faculty members, NSS Unit, and students of BG-Sem I and BG-Sem II participated in the drive. To universalize this event, the drive was followed by a Painting Competition on this year’s theme ‘‘Connecting People to Nature” on 9th June, 2017. The students were successful in depicting the theme. The Environment Week also included the initiative to sensitize the students through an Essay Competition on “Role of Man in Protecting Nature”. The Environment Week Celebrations concluded on 14th June, 2017. Madam Principal congratulated the staff and the students for successful completion of the celebrations.
